What WEXT Intermediate level provides:
The Intermediate level is often a milestone for learners: at this point, many learners really begin to ‘take off’ in terms of their ability to communicate. Some learners, however, may see the intermediate level as a ‘plateau’ and feel that they are no longer making the progress they were before. At this level, you need fresh challenges to help you realize how much you know and to make your passive knowledge active, together with a steady input of new language.
WEXT Intermediate level puts as much emphasis on consolidating and putting into practice known grammar as learning new structures. It provide contexts for new language that will engage you, using real-life stories and situations, humour, and suspense. The Grammar Lessons provide fun and engaging grammar animations, with clear rules, example sentences with audio, and common errors. At this level, you will also practice using different tenses together.
Every lesson in WEXT Intermediate level has a clear lexical aim. All lessons are linked to the Vocabulary Presentation which help present and practise high-frequency, topic-based vocabulary in class, give an audio model of each word, and provide a clear reference so students can revise and test themselves in their own time. You will also build new words by adding prefixes and suffixes and put new vocabulary into practice.
WEXT Intermediate level provides interesting, integrated listening materials. There are confidence building tasks which are progressively more challenging in terms of speed, length, and language difficulty, but are always achievable. Longer listenings are broken into separate parts with different tasks, to avoid memory overload. You will be exposed to a wide variety of accents, including some non-native speakers of English.
WEXT Intermediate level provides engaging and stimulating reading texts which have been adapted from a variety of real sources (the press, magazines, news websites) and have been chosen for their intrinsic interest. Nearly all reading texts are available with audio, which help build reading fluency and confidence. You will be exposed to a wide variety of authentic text types and challenging tasks which help you read better.
Practical English Lessons
Practical English lessons introduce and practise the key language for situations such as introducing yourself and others, or making polite requests, and introduce and practice the language for new situations, like expressing opinions or apologizing.
